Global Citizens Project - deadline Tuesday, 14th October

25th September 2025
Dear All,

At Western Road, we are proud to be a community that reaches far and wide. Each of our families brings with them stories, traditions, and connections that make our school a richer and more vibrant place.

This year, we are launching a Global Citizens Project to celebrate the many links we all have across the globe. Whether through family heritage, places we have lived, languages spoken at home, or experiences in the UK or abroad, we want to highlight the ways our community is connected to the wider world, beyond Lewes. We all need a sense of belonging. When we share our stories and learn from each other, we not only strengthen our sense of community but also help our children grow as open-minded, compassionate global citizens.

Please use the link https://forms.office.com/e/iGa6cLFLFz to list up to ten places (country and city/town/area, be as specific as you can) that are significant. It may be your child has special friends living in Brighton or Manchester, took a special holiday in Lymington or has family living abroad in San Diego - we look forward to learning about your connections! We are asking for the form to be completed by Tuesday, 14th October. At that time, each class will be assigned coloured stickers/pins to plot the significant places on a world map, to be displayed outside the school hall. We will launch the map with our school community after half-term as part of our assembly programme. As new families join our school, we can add to the map on an ongoing basis.

We warmly invite you and your family to take part in this project. Together, we will celebrate the diverse threads that weave us into one school community - connected locally and globally.

With best wishes,
