School Meals

At Western Road Community Primary School we take great pride in ensuring all our children have the opportunity to have a hot, tasty, nutritious and healthy meal at lunch time.  All Key Stage 1 children (those in Reception, Years 1 and 2) are entitled to free school meals. Other children are also entitled; forms are available to download below for more information.

Meals are supplied by Chartwells, who have a 3-week rotating menu with seasonal variations (such as a picnic bag during the summer months so children are able to choose from a hot or cold option).

Menus are sent home regularly so that parents and children know what is available each day.

Children may bring sandwiches to school and eat them in the school hall or outside, if the weather is viable. We provide water and milk and would ask that you do not allow your child to come to school with fizzy drinks.

School milk is available for those who wish to have it. Parents who want their child to have a playtime snack may provide a piece of unprocessed fruit or vegetables. Infant pupils currently benefit from receiving a free piece of fruit/vegetable every day on a Government scheme.

Please note that we do not allow nuts or edible seeds of any kind onto the school premises due to allergies.
