Sports Day arrangements - Friday, 10th July

9th July 2026
Dear Families,

We are looking forward to seeing you for our Sports Day tomorrow, Friday, 10th July.

If you are able to come to school early, we would appreciate any help with FWR to put up gazebos to help provide shade for the children (near the base of the mound, dotted along that line).

You are welcome to bring your own gazebos/parasols for personal use but please these well away from the activity line (marked by the rope near parallel with the mound).

Please bring the children for the usual time (gates open at 8.40am and close at 8.50am) in their PE kits (shorts/skorts and T-shirt/polo shirt and trainers). Please ensure your child is wearing suncream and has a water bottle and hat.

The children will be taken to class to register and then go to the Hall where they will be split into their House groups and then, within those, their animal group (given tomorrow in class). They will then come out to the field to their first activity station.

Each group will have a turn at each of the carousel activities (including refreshment breaks) before returning inside for a toilet/hydration break. Water and fruit will be available for each child from the refreshment tent (large marquee). Parents and carers are welcome to fill up their water bottles at the refreshment tent too.

Afterwards, children are invited to complete running races in their year groups, if they wish to do so. Following the children's running races, parents/carers are invited to run ONE race (either EYFS/KS1 or KS2).

Children will then return inside for a toilet/hydration break before coming out to the field for an early lunch with their families/class team. FWR will kindly distribute ice lollies to each child during the picnic. Following the picnic, you are able to take your child home but you MUST have your child marked off the register with their class teacher.

If you would like to take your child home after the races, BEFORE the picnic, you are able to do so but you MUST have your child marked off the register with their class teacher.

Children who are remaining in school, will return inside to be supervised by staff until usual collection time at 3.15pm.

We are very aware the weather forecast is warm and sunny tomorrow. To help the school community, we:
Have FWR putting up gazebos to help shade the children;

Welcome you bringing your own gazebo/parasol to use away from the activity area;

Will ensure water is readily available for all;

Will provide fruit for the children for refreshment/snack;

Shorten the length of the carousel activity time for each group;

Reduce the number of parent/carer races;

Take an extended inside break between the carousel activity time and races (15 minutes) so everyone can rehydrate/toilet/rest;

Extended inside break after the final race so everyone can rehydrate/toilet/rest;

The ‘day’ will finish earlier than previously planned – lunch will therefore also be early;

Children are allowed to leave before or after the picnic but must be marked off the register by their class teacher beforehand;

If families would like to eat their picnics in the Hall/in the outdoor classroom area (where it is more shaded), they are welcome to do so.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
